As I've already confessed, I am a plant murderer . I have, however, had marginal success with container gardening. The past year or two I started seedlings with my dad, which means the kids and I dropped a few seeds in pots and my dad cared for them. Once they were established outside, I was able to keep them alive long enough to harvest a few peppers and tomatoes and have a pretty pot of flowers on my doorstep. (At least until a horrid heat-wave and drought came along and killed them all; it's hard to keep containers well-watered when it's that hot!) In spite of the 10+ inches of snow on the ground right now, it's time to think about starting seeds again and I figure if I'm ever going to develop a green thumb, I better start educating myself! That is why I jumped at the opportunity to read Gary Emmett's book Seed Starting: The First Step to Gardening . (affiliate link) Available for your Kindle or Kindle app from Amazon. Hello there! Thanks for inviting me to come see your new Family Oink. They turned out really cute! And I loved that the pattern was your birthday present to yourself. I should buy those kinds of presents for myself, instead of dumb stuff like hair irons and knife blocks and nutella. Good luck at the fair, piggies!
ReplyDeleteSo cute... adorable. I came here from Gingerbread Snowflakes and I am so happy you won the book since I can see you doing some amazing things with it. I wonder if you can put round small magnets in their noses and on the side of mamma so they could really attach to her. Maybe not... they are absolutely wonderful just the way they are. I bet they will win the first price at the state fair ;)
ReplyDeleteThe piglets do attach to Mama Pig with pink velcro (I ordered it from Seattle Fabrics). Magnets could work too, but they might be a choking hazard should they become dislodged from the piglets snouts. I really don't know what to expect at the fair, but I'm just a nerd and want to enter my pigs in the fair just like people do with their real pigs. Tee hee!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I won that giveaway from Gingerbread Snowflakes! I'm so excited to make some cute, cute things for Christmas this year!

ReplyDeleteI think these are adorable and my daughter would love it for her upcoming birthday. Can you please post a link or send me the pattern to my email because I want to send the pattern to my mom so she could make it in time for my daughters birthday. Thanks
